Chris Date vs. William Albrëcht (Catholic) on Hell

Having promoted the biblical view of final punishment in debates with two fellow Reformed theologians, I’ve been given the opportunity to do so in a debate with a Roman Catholic, William Albrëcht.1 Raised in a non-religious household, William became a Protestant and, later, converted to Roman Catholicism. He has a B.A. in Theology, is an apologist on staff at The Catholic Legate, and has published many videos on his YouTube channel.

Our debate will be webcast live on “Healing X Outreach” talk radio, on Saturday, August 24th, at 1pm Eastern, 10am Pacific. Listeners are encouraged to listen live and call in with questions at 1-347-934-0379. The title of the debate is, “Hell: Eternal Suffering or Annihilation?” The format will be as follows:

  1. Stay tuned to Rethinking Hell for a possible announcement in the near future; I may have an opportunity to engage in my first live, in-person debate defending conditionalism, this time with a well-known Arminian here in the Pacific Northwest. Calvinist, Armininan, Catholic… What’s next? []

Will someone be able to record and post the debate online? I can’t wait to hear it!

    • Chris Date

It should be available to listen to afterwards at the host’s website.

You should be careful with that. If I remember correctly, I heard James White talk about having problems getting a hold of a debate or debates that he did. I can’t remember exactly but it might have even have been a debate with some Romanists. I hope that someone else records it and puts it on youtube.

        • No Romanist [sic] would have time tampering with White’s debate or that of any Calvinist.

I trust the comments here will adhere to standards of Christian charity and public decency, which is what Rethinking Hell stands for. That doesn’t involve using pejorative labels obviously not welcomed by proponents of a view. And of course, Chris will not be debating Catholicism anyway.

Although we are a firmly Protestant and Evangelical crew, we hope our perspectives on the doctrine of Hell can be helpful to anyone, so we welcome all conversations to that end. The prospect of Hell affects us all.
